Who can join?
The Women’s Institute is open to all women over the age of 18. Hallam Roses is a friendly local WI based in Sheffield, and we'd love you to come and be part of our group.
Is all you do arts/craft based?
Although you will find crafts feature in our programme as a WI group we also enjoy a range of other activities and have speakers come to talk to us about different issues and topics.
We fundraise money for our WI and local charities and sometimes arrange trips or events for members. Our events programme is devised following member suggestions and you can see our full range of events and activitites on our Facebook page. We realise that our programme will not be for everyone and if our events are not to your taste there may be other South Yorkshire Federation WIs locally that may be more suitable.
How many members have you got?
We currently have space for 35 membership spaces and 8 guest spaces. Our guest spaces become available monthly and are available through EventBrite. Follow us on Twitter and Facebook for details on joining us at our next meeting.
We want all our members to be able get to know one another, form friendships and be involved in shaping the future direction of the group.
Why do you have a committee?
We work to guidelines set by the Women's Institute which require us to have a committee structure. It's also a good way of running the group and making sure we are organised well for our members.
Do I have to pay to join?
Yes. Membership to the Women's Institute is £39 a year or you can attend up to three meetings a year as a guest. From time to time you may be required to pay an additional charge to cover the cost of materials/activities for some sessions or social events, but we'll always let you know beforehand if this is the case..
Why do I have to pay?
We are a not for profit organisation so all the money we raise through events and through cake sales at our regular monthly meetings will go back into the group, for use by the group. Each year we have to contribute a proportion of each members subscription fee to the NFWI, as well as pay for refreshments, activity supplies, fees for any guest speakers and other running costs.
How can I find out more?
If you are interested in finding out more about the group or attending one of our meetings as a guest, message us on Facebook,
We hope this answers all your questions but if not feel free to get in touch!
